Seasonal Sunday Lunch launch!

April 5, 2013 By JJ 14 Comments

Seasonal Sunday Lunch

I am so excited to officially share my newest project with you. I’ve been hinting here and there, talking in low tones and whispers, but I’ve never been too good at using my inside-voice for extended periods of time.

So without any further ado, you’re invited to lunch!

Seasonal Sunday Lunch is an international grass-roots movement that aims to raise awareness of seasonal produce and encourage mindful seasonal eating in the simplest, most enticing way: by gathering friends and family for a long, lazy lunch.

A Seasonal Sunday Lunch can be an informal get-together at home, a picnic in a park or a designated event at a restaurant โ€“ all coordinated around a specific date in spring, summer, autumn and winter.

Sunday, April 21, 2013 is our first official lunch date

Celebrating autumn produce in the Southern Hemisphere, and spring in the Northern Hemisphere, you can hold your Seasonal Sunday Lunch with us on 21 April, or choose any day that is convenient for you.

While the founders are based in Sydney, you can hold a Seasonal Sunday Lunch anywhere in the world.

Seasonal Sunday Lunch

Seasonal food is better for our taste buds, our wallets, our health and the environment, but in this on-demand day and age many of us have forgotten about, or never knew, times when we ate according to the seasons…

So do a bit of research, get out to your local Farmers’ Market, plan your menu and embrace local seasonal eating!

Join us in celebrating seasonal food

In addition to holding a Seasonal Sunday Lunch we’ll be sharing our menus and recipes, great seasonal food resources and all sorts of other treats on the site. Let us know what happening on your seasonal table!

  • Share a Recipe to be published on the site
  • Share a Menu to be published on the site
  • Recommend a Restaurant to take part in Seasonal Sunday Lunch – our first partner restaurant is Restaurant Atelier in Glebe (Sydney), bookings for Chef Darren’s 21 April feast can be made via their site!
  • Submit a Resource or Tip to be published on the site
  • Submit a new article idea or pre-published article for syndication

Donโ€™t forget to share the seasonal love on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and even Google+.

~~~
Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive thus far, I can’t wait to see where this goes!
    Fantastic idea. I love this! Great work bringing this together, it is an amazing concept.
    My husband’s parents live on a 20-acre farm about an hour from us – we have a big veggie patch there and visit often to harvest and linger around in the fresh country air. I’m already planning to call them up today and suggest we have a family lunch on the 21st, using as much of what we’ve grown as possible!
    Congrats again and looking forward to participating.
