As you read this RJ and I are practicing our extraordinarily poor Spanish on the unsuspecting population of Buenos Aires, and in a few days will be setting off to hike the Inca Trail. Conveniently, Katherine Martinelli is here with a gorgeous granola to keep you well fed! I've admired Katherine's blog for ages and regularly link-up in her weekly blog hops. We had hoped to meet in person in NYC this year during both our trips home but schedules didn't quite synch-up. So instead, she's here to … [Read more...]
Paleo Coconut & Berry Cobbler
Things have been a bit more frantic than usual lately... I know, hard to believe, but we are leaving on an extended holiday in just over 24 hours and the amount of general stuff left to do is astronomical. RJ is up to his elbows in spreadsheets, I am knee deep in laundry - about 90% of it clean at least, and 'thank goodness we have one more day' was uttered a minimum of 10 times yesterday. Uh-oh, we no longer have another day - yikes. On the upside, almost all of the flights are booked - … [Read more...]

A quick peek on what's been happening and what's coming up. I hope to get a few 'Around Town' posts up shortly but for now: Bread, Berries & Books. Vegan Vanilla & Chocolate Cashew Cheesecake
I don't do normal particularly well - especially when it comes to recipes. I always have to go slightly left of centre, or right, whatever, but rarely straight down the middle. I make pies with beetroot or purple carrots, I make ice cream with avocados, I make sandwiches with fruit. So when we chose 'Nuts' as the Sweet Adventures Blog Hop theme for July my mind started ticking away. Baklava did occur to me, as it had for our 'Layers' theme in March, but the same thing that put me off of it … [Read more...]
Perfect Apple Crumble Pie
I love Pie, it's as simple as that. Crust I can take or leave - unless it's chocolate or graham cracker and attached to Cheesecake but that is another dream for another day - but Pie filling, yes please. Custard, cream, fruit, whatever, they're all fair game. Needless to say, I was quite happy when we chose 'Sweet as Pie' for our June Sweet Adventures Blog Hop. I'm not sure if you remember my Crazy Pink Pie from a few months back but shortly after making that one I went even more out … [Read more...]
Matcha Green Tea Cupcakes – or Maccha. As you were.
Welcome to the May Sweet Adventures Blog Hop, our theme this month - 'What's your cup of Tea?' - meant that I got to create a recipe using one of my favourite things - Tea. It was only logical that my creation included another of my favourite things - Cake! Can you believe that we've been at this #SABH thing for 7 months now? Wow. And thanks in advance for joining us for this most recent adventure - I'm honoured to be hosting again and we have a special surprise this month too... The … [Read more...]
SABH May: What’s Your Cup of Tea?
Tea is a powerful thing. It is served up as the cure for all that ails you - from a broken heart to a broken finger. It's had stories written about it and ceremonies created in its name. The taxation of it incited a revolution and changed the course of a country, and the most expensive version of it costs about as much by weight as gold. After water it is the most consumed drink on the planet. Tea refers both to the plant of the Camellia Sinesis family as well as the beverage made from … [Read more...]
