Here we are halfway through another month and it's time for me to share a bit of what is happening round these parts for Celia’s ‘In My Kitchen’ February linkup... In my kitchen this February: Remember how back in December I burnt out the motor on my food chopper trying to make nut butter? Well I finally pulled our old one out of a storage bin in the garage. I scored this beauty about a decade ago from St Vinnies for something like $20. At the time I was on a work-not-allowed visa, … [Read more...]
Pina Colada Rice Pudding, or Rice Porridge. Wait, what time is it…?
I'll warn you in advance, I may be in a mood, I may be writing stream of consciousnesses right now, I may not feel like editing tonight, I may get a bit random. On the other hand, I may not. It's kind of like roulette. However the outcome is tropical and sunny so I'll try not to frighten you too much up front, ok? Great. I always have leftover rice. Always. This situation is primarily due to cooking a full cup of dry rice no matter how much we need - every single time. But the leftovers get … [Read more...]
In My Kitchen: January 2013
Looking around my kitchen in early January I thought to myself "after a robust first go in December surely there's nothing left to share for Celia's 'In My Kitchen' January linkup". Boy was I wrong. There were of course a few bits and pieces from Christmas but it is amazing what else pops up when you're looking for it! He had seen shooting stars before, but this time it was controlled, almost as if someone was piloting the star like a ship... Some say the great knowledge of the Mayans came from time travelers or extra terrestrials. How else could could an ancient culture know so much? How could they pinpoint the length … [Read more...]

Cinnamon Cauliflower Coffee Cake & Caramel Sauce
Since we got back from our adventure I have been on a much needed clean-eating kick. If you were following along at any point you know we were quite literally consuming everything in our path as we made our way around The America's for almost three months - and it wrapped-up for me with a gluttonous weekend at EDB2012. Back in my own kitchen I gravitated immediately to the quinoa, brown rice, kale and eggs. It's how I prefer to eat, honestly, and a bit of ingenuity makes for some pretty tasty … [Read more...]
