Our flight from LA landed at Sydney airport around 7.30am. From there my day went something like this: Pick up luggage. Re-pack a carry on. Get in cab with RJ and our 8-piece luggage family. Get dropped off at Domestic Terminal because Jetstar is too cheap budget to do transfers from International. Swap US SIM for Aussie SIM. Wash face, brush teeth, re-apply makeup, change clothes. Board 10.30am flight for Adelaide to attend Eat.Drink.Blog 2012. Phew! I am a conference geek, I admit it, so … [Read more...]
Vegetarian Pumpkin Spelt Lasagne
It was dreary during our last two days in NYC. The grey skies and misty drizzle encouraged the continuation of my hairdryer boycott and although we complained a bit, it didn't stop us from getting out of the apartment to enjoy the city. It was still dark as we headed to Laguardia at 6.30 am on Thursday morning. Arriving in Mexico eight or so hours later we were greeted with a stunning blue sky obscured only by night and an occasional passing wisp of a pretend cloud. On Friday evening … [Read more...]

Guacamole & Pico de Gallo – Afternoon Tea, Mexico-style
Having only just settled into our breathtaking room after roughly 8 hours of travelling we were surprised buy a knock at the door ... "Hola, buenos tardes - guacamole, salsa fresca, corn chips and cerveza for you. Welcome to Capella Pedregal." We stripped off our travelling clothes, grabbed the first swimsuits we could find, slipped into our balcony-plunge-infinity-pool and cracked open the beers. Bliss. Back home I eat avocado every day, however RJ has insisted for years he doesn't … [Read more...]
Almond & Coconut Cookies
. "You know, I've been thinking... we-should-have-chocolate-pudding-tonight..." The words tumbled out, stepping on each other in their urgency to be heard, as if she thought I'd say no. Funny thing was I too had been craving pudding only a few hours earlier, and even if I hadn't, who am I to say no to chocolate pudding? L and I made our way through the supermarket which sells food that is whole [ahem] collecting bits and bobs for the next few days and plotting what dinner that evening would … [Read more...]
Custard Apple Lassi
Remember all those Custard Apples I got a while back? Well I'm working through the alarmingly decreasing supply in my freezer and this is the latest incarnation. Lassis are traditionally made from mango, but pairing the luscious custard apple flesh with cardamom and yogurt was one of the first things that came to mind, so I went with it. The fruit purees much like mango - creamy and sweet - so it just made sense. Because I like really thick smoothies I used the fruit frozen rather than … [Read more...]
