I once had a boss who gave a hard time to anyone answering the question "how are you?" with the word "busy". It didn't stop any of us from defaulting to it anyway, but it did make you think about how often it is offered up as a reply or an excuse. Why? Are we all looking for sympathy? Or acknowledgement? Or is it simply easier than any of the alternatives answers? Who knows. But lately I've been head-down-bum-up, had lots of bits-and-pieces-on-the-go, lots of balls-in-the-air... You get … [Read more...]
Sweet Adventures Blog Hop March: Cocktail Party! #SABH
Autumn is falling in the Southern Hemisphere, Spring is springing in the Northern one and now that we’ve all had plenty of time to recover from the holiday craziness – it’s about time for a party! I'm once again hosting our monthly Sweet Adventures Blog Hop and after my slightly left-field theme last time, I figured I'd throw out an easier - or at least a more celebratory one - this month. You are invited to join us for a Cocktail Party themed Sweet Adventures Blog Hop! This month is … [Read more...]
Watermelon & Cucumber Salad with Tahini, Coconut & Lime Dressing
Oh summer, please don't go. You've been nothing but a tease, an irritating teenager, and a raging lunatic for the past two years, but I keep hoping for a reasonable turn. Is it too much to ask for blue sky, reasonable beach temperatures and low humidity on a regular basis? But I must admit, even through the hotter-than-an-oven days and the rain and the indecision, I still love you more than winter. While the weather in Sydney has been schizophrenic at best this summer, the fruit has … [Read more...]
Gluten Free Quinoa & Buckwheat Skillet Bread
And there it was again, a very happy "I wonder what would happen if... " accident. Somehow quinoa flour does that in my kitchen, first it was tortillas, then a chocolate crumble crust and now bread. But in the midst of making this at least once a week for the past three months I've neglected to share it with you. Shame on me. This is 'Emergency Bread' at its best. Less than 20 minutes start to finish and gluten free to boot. Crumbly, light, slice-able. The only thing I haven't yet … [Read more...]

Summer is wrapping up here in Australia and Spring is springing in the Northern Hemisphere, so I figured we could all use a … [Read more...]
Shoes for Ms G
My name is JJ and I have a problem with love of shoes. Just because they spread across two closets, multiple baskets, and a free standing 5-shelf storage unit with a double row of boxes on each level doesn't mean I need help, really... I've been much better in the past few years though - and other than a set of hiking shoes for the Inca Trail and a pair of black bad-ass boots during our last trip I haven't bought any in ages. However my niece is walking now and so it only made … [Read more...]
