Crave is a month long food festival in Sydney with literally hundred of events and participating restaurants and, well, food. This year we haven't taken nearly enough advantage of it - although I did do a fair amount of drooling over the Tweets and pictures of other food bloggers at the launch parties and the World Chef Showcase. We did however manage to make it to the Sydney Growers Market in Pyrmont one morning, and stop into Bitton on a Saturday afternoon for brunch to enjoy ... a … [Read more...]
Moustache season is now open
Is your upper lip twitching in anticipation? Have you picked your style yet? Are you ready to grow your mo, or support a mo-grower, with pride this November? Last Wednesday I attended the 2011 Sydney launch of Movember. The ticket was compliments of Nuffnang and the party was held upstairs in The Beresford Hotel in Surry Hills. I had no idea that there even was an upstairs to The Beresford, but there is, and it has recently been refurbed with a stage for gigs, a new bar, a middle section … [Read more...]
Getting stoned for my birthday…
...with the full support of RJ at that. Now we're not talking about dodgy dorm-room or public-park stoned, this was high-class fancy stuff, and well worth the cost. It involved slightly trippy music, the feeling of floating and a fair bit of nudity...and afterward I had a massive bout of dry mouth, it took hours to come down, and I was starving. I highly recommend it to everyone. What to ask for? Hot.Stone.Massage. Ha! The Aveda Day Spa in Paddington is where I went to get my fix, compliments … [Read more...]
Here is a great reci…oohhh look pretty lights….
So after weeks of driving around or through the city but not stopping, and hearing the snap crackle pop of fireworks on the weekend but not being able to see them we made it to Vivid Sydney for it's last night to ogle the pretty lights. Managed not to have my good camera with me but the little point and shoot did a fairly good job on short notice! Go ahead. Ogle. First up, 3-D projections on Customs House - it filled up with water, crumpled down around us and even took a deep breath … [Read more...]
Someone else making the cake
After a day of lovely text messages and phone calls, rousing [making up in volume what it was lacking slightly in tune] renditions of the song of the day and a surprise cake at work, I finished off my birthday with a very thoughtful gift and a wonderful dinner compliments of my gorgeous husband..... Warned the waiter in advance that I may photograph everything [blur complements of an old iPhone]...RJ's worried that this may be my new favourite restaurant. Bistro Moncur - The taste buds are … [Read more...]
Play me a buritto
Happy Cinco de Mayo! Lunch was punctuated today by the stylings of a mariachi band outside of Guzman y Gomez. Even better, $5 burritos in celebration of the day. … [Read more...]
Thanks y’all
Around November I was looking at the artist list for this year's Bluesfest in Byron and amongst one of the most amazing lineups I have ever seen there was The Indigo Girls. We decided not to brave the madness at the festival over Easter [back when I went - many moons ago - it was tens-of-thousands in attendance instead of over a hundred thousand and really, I can't be bothered to share porta-potties with that many people anymore, no matter how legendary the bands are], so instead, for Christmas … [Read more...]
