Well, well, well it's been a while between In My Kitchen posts now hasn't it. But I'm back (from the holidays that fed Instagram until it had to put on elastic waist pants, yet neglected proper posts until even the tumbleweeds lost interest) with an overflowing batch of three months worth of IMK goodies. As per usual this is a collection of things seen over on Instagram — reasonably edited, grouped in loosely interpreted categories and appearing no particular order. You've totally missed … [Read more...]
In My Kitchen: August 2015
It’s once again time for In My Kitchen and as per usual this is a collection of things from the past month — a small snippet of those seen over on Instagram — in loosely interpreted categories and no particular order… ------ Kitchen Shenanigans I decided one night a few weeks back that I needed to bake bread. I didn't measure, kneaded and rested randomly, and ended up with the best loaf I've made in years (wholewheat, whole spelt blend). Lunch the next day (where I took time out from … [Read more...]
In My Kitchen: June 2015
It’s once again time for In My Kitchen and as per usual this is a collection of things from the past month — a small snippet of those seen over on Instagram — in loosely interpreted categories and no particular order… As always I’m linking up with Celia for IMK. ------ Kitchen Shenanigans Have you heard about Australia's Biggest Morning Tea? An Apple a Day in Bilpin, NSW
Summers are spent squinting through sparkling sunshine, letting the nectar of soft stonefruit drip and sizzle on the pavement, relishing the rich summer bounty with pies and salsas and unadorned fruit. But well before autumn comes knocking in Sydney, while we are all still savouring days at the beach and endless twilight evenings, there are signs heralding the imminent change in seasons. Slowly and surely the warmth of summer is replaced by the crisp snap of autumn and with it, the crisp snap … [Read more...]
Green Herb Pesto & In My Kitchen: April 2014
If you haven't noticed I'm rather prolific over on Instagram... ahem, and therefore each time I pull together a list for In My Kitchen I simply scroll back through photos shared since the last post to work out what's been going on. There is a bit of a method to the madness, even if the resulting collections appear as slightly randomly grouped items all in one place. That said my life is slightly random when put all in one place, so it fits. Anyway, it's once again time to link up with Celia … [Read more...]
Taste of Sydney 2014 and IconPark
Taste of Sydney has once again returned to Centennial Park and this past Thursday evening RJ and I had the opportunity to head over and check it out. As per usual there are plenty of restaurants with special menus just for the event, and a whole host of producers talking passionately about everything from wine to pastries to free range meat. However this year I did notice there seem to be a few more chill out lounge-y areas which is a nice way to take a break and laze in the sun -- or the … [Read more...]
Alpha Restaurant – Sydney CBD
It would be naive to assume that a culture defined by enormous stone temples, wildly animated speech patterns and an ancient tribe of all-powerful gods would do anything by halves. Enter Alpha, the inner-city restaurant launched last year by the Hellenic Club. Mere steps into the Victorian-era building in the centre of Sydney's CBD and you know you're in for a treat. The cavernous space has been transformed into a warm and inviting venue -- quite a feat for a room seemingly the size of a … [Read more...]
