Let's be honest, I could eat sweet potatoes nearly every day. I could also (and usually do) put bonito flakes on almost anything. And these sautéed Brussels sprouts? Don't even get me started... We'll get back to the stuffed sweet potato version in a moment, but for those who aren't aware, Okonomiyaki is a Japanese pancake -- a savoury one, and more akin to huge fritter if we're being properly descriptive. It's found all over Japan and, not surprisingly, interpreted differently depending on … [Read more...]
Rainbow Swirl Hot Cross Buns
It's not the first time I've made rainbow food and coloured it using only natural (from nature not from a lab) ingredients. It's also not the first time I've made slightly out-there Hot Cross Buns. And I'd love to tell you that I made these a million ways and this is the best but truth be told time got the better of me this year and right now done is better than shelved for another year. In theory veggie powders would work a treat but fresh produce was all I had so that's what … [Read more...]

Buttered Peas & Avocado on Toast
They were a spur of the moment purchase at the farmers' market. A bag of peas in the shell, sitting just next to the scale. The peas (along with some broccoli and cucumbers) went into a satchel -- and then subsequently sat in the fridge, looking at me every time I opened it to grab something else. It wasn't until I started shelling them a day or two later that I realised fresh peas need almost nothing else to make them special. A pea and feta smash was in consideration for a moment but … [Read more...]

Chocolate Granola
Sometimes you just have to go with your gut. Like the day I landed on Food.Baby.Life, my assigned blog for March Secret Recipe Club, and the first post on the first page was for a grain-free chocolate granola. And that granola called out to me so loudly that I didn't want to go any further. But I did, because it's the responsible thing to do, and I'm so glad I dug a bit deeper... I discovered that Susan -- a mum to three little ones under five who is also studying Naturopathy -- is … [Read more...]
