Well it's official, RJ is participating in Movember this year! It was only a matter of time, ever since I went to the launch party I may have been more than a little encouraging about it all. It's actually been official since 1 November [oops] when the goatee was shaved and he started out with a fresh clean face, but now there is finally a photo to display the glory. For all the hilarity of masses of men running around for a month with 'staches that range from 'boldly stunning' to 'just a bit … [Read more...]
Hudson Meats – Mosman
bou·tique / bu 'tik / boo-teek / noun 1. a: a small fashionable shop | b: any small, exclusive producer 2. a small business that offers highly specialized services or products 3: a small business, department, etc., specializing in one aspect of a larger industry I've always been a sucker for a good boutique. The merchandise laid out just so; the shiny surfaces buffed within an inch of their lives; the way you find something new at each turn; the small touches that whisper 'come on … [Read more...]
The Great Australian Pavlova Blog Hop
Hey you! Yes, you. Stop looking around like there is someone else I could be talking to. You are reading a food blog if you haven't noticed [well mostly food, so close enough] so it was only a matter of time before I asked you to play along... The Great Australian Pavlova Blog Hop Late last week I ended up in a conversation on Twitter with Delicieux, The Hungry Australian, Dining With a Stud, and The Capers of the Kitchen Crusader, about none other than the wondrous Pavlova. Based on the … [Read more...]
Eat.Drink.Blog
Eat.Drink.Blog.Eat.Drink.Blog.Eat.Drink.Blog. True, it's what I do for some portion of pretty much every day, but this weekend I had the honour of getting together for a full day of food blog immersion with a group of like minded people from across Australia. People who are more prone to snapping shots of cake before tasting it, who don't mind the entree getting a bit tepid before even thinking about taking a bite, who look for tables with the best light - rather than the most privacy, … [Read more...]
Crave Sydney
Crave is a month long food festival in Sydney with literally hundred of events and participating restaurants and, well, food. This year we haven't taken nearly enough advantage of it - although I did do a fair amount of drooling over the Tweets and pictures of other food bloggers at the launch parties and the World Chef Showcase. We did however manage to make it to the Sydney Growers Market in Pyrmont one morning, and stop into Bitton on a Saturday afternoon for brunch to enjoy ... a … [Read more...]
Moustache season is now open
Is your upper lip twitching in anticipation? Have you picked your style yet? Are you ready to grow your mo, or support a mo-grower, with pride this November? Last Wednesday I attended the 2011 Sydney launch of Movember. The ticket was compliments of Nuffnang and the party was held upstairs in The Beresford Hotel in Surry Hills. I had no idea that there even was an upstairs to The Beresford, but there is, and it has recently been refurbed with a stage for gigs, a new bar, a middle section … [Read more...]
30 days, in pictures
So, because I don't have enough on my plate these days [ahem] I have decided to chronicle the next 30 days with a picture a day. Starting 31 Jan and ending 1 March it will span 3 calendar months and, just because I like a good list [and to stop myself from taking 30 photos of flowers] this, in no particular order, is what I am going … [Read more...]
