A week or two ago inspiration landed on my front step. Romesco – Spanish Roasted Red Pepper & Nut Sauce
It only took one bite and I was smitten. Simple as that. I have no recollection of ever consuming romesco sauce before that evening but there it was, a base for a head of roasted cauliflower and its parmesan veil. The cauliflower itself was stunning -- tender, fragrant and just charred around the edges -- and will inevitably make it here one day but the sauce... oh the sauce. Beet Greens & Cashew Pesto
Keeping up with my reasonably skewed approach to pretty much everything these days, a few weeks back I bought a bunch of beetroot a with the sole purpose of lopping off the greens for pesto. Once the greens were sorted I proceeded to fish through a jar of mixed nuts for the cashews, eating a pecan and brazil and walnut and macadamia or four as I went. Smokey BBQ Beans
Another one to work my way through drafts and archives... ------ Created originally to go with the brisket, sharing these beans now was spurred on by a stunningly disappointing serving of baked eggs experienced this morning at a local cafe. End of Summer Sandwich & the Union Square Green Market – NYC
I don't do winter well. I'd take sweltering over cold any day -- and the fact that the lowest Sydney winter temps are still significantly higher than the north-east America-land ones I grew up with matters little when I have to get out of bed each morning to an un-heated apartment.
