It’s once again time for In My Kitchen and as per usual this is a collection of things from the past month — as seen over on Instagram — in loosely interpreted categories and no particular order. As always I’m linking up with Celia for IMK. ------ Kitchen Shenanigans I've been a bit tied up with work lately (hence it being quiet on the blog front) and the other day I finished one of the bigger projects. At least the props have been earning their keep! There wasn't a single overhead shot in … [Read more...]
Asparagus & Smoked Salmon Egg Cups
Remember how I said that I'd been inspired by an asparagus delivery to create a stack of seasonal Spring-inspired recipes? This is the second of those, because brunch. I've been seeing baked egg cups everywhere lately but they're usually lined with ham and have little other than an egg in the centre. Staring at the bunches of asparagus in my fridge reminded me of little trees, and before I knew it I'd created a forrest of spears in salmon lined cups and baked it all together with … [Read more...]
October 2014 Photo Challenge #eatfoodphotos: The Food Photo-A-Day!
Welcome to #eatfoodphotos for October 2014! Look at me, all sharing the list before the last day of the month like an organised blogger… smoke and mirrors I tell you, smoke and mirrors. Of course the list goes up on Instagram first so you can always find it there each month too. Now for the nuts and bolts of it all — same hashtag as always, so we have our own little ongoing #eatfoodphotos collection where you can see all the pics from the monthly challenges, no matter where you are … [Read more...]
Oatmeal Cookie Dough Bites {Raw, Vegan, Nut-Free, Gluten-Free}
Oatmeal cookies were one of my favourite things growing up. Our go-to recipe was the one on the top of the rolled oat canister -- not the current one or the one before that but the one that existed back in the 80s and to this day still lives on a cardboard cut-out in my mom's recipe box. We always made them with raisins. Those soft, chewy cookies were a special treat, but the best part of baking them was eating the raw dough straight from the bowl. It's been ages since I've made … [Read more...]
In My Kitchen: September 2014
It’s once again time for In My Kitchen and as per usual this is a collection of things from the past month — as seen over on Instagram — in loosely interpreted categories and no particular order. As always I’m linking up with Celia for IMK and this month is overrun with goodies experienced on or picked up during my trip earlier this month. I suggest you make a cup of tea for this -- go on, I'll wait -- it's a big one, full of mini-rants and a severe (probably inappropriate) over-use of … [Read more...]
Strawberry Scrolls
These babies are the result of a tryst between strawberry pie and a cinnamon roll... or more accurately a deep craving on my part for both. You see for some unknown reason cinnamon scrolls have been everywhere recently, and on top of that winter in Sydney means being simply inundated with strawberries (not that there's anything wrong with that). Berries and rolls taking over my Instagram feed as America-land gorges on cinnamon and summer. Berries taking over the supermarket shelves … [Read more...]
September 2014 Photo Challenge #eatfoodphotos: The Food Photo-A-Day!
Welcome to #eatfoodphotos for September 2014! Hello here! Sooo yes it's a few days into September... but with not being able to access my admin for the past few days (thanks to bot attacks) and not being able to access my wifi for most nights (thanks to an internet provider in Australia starting with 'V') I figure a few days is far better than a few weeks. Of course the list goes up on Instagram first so you can always find it there each month too. Now for the nuts and bolts of it all … [Read more...]
