You know those friends who have that, history, with you. The ones you can talk to every day, or once a month, or only once a year, yet each time you pick up exactly where you left off and go a million miles a minute until you part. The ones you can go to for anything, anytime and not even have to explain because, they just know. The ones who have seen way too much and know way too much and love you anyway? The lovely Running Yankee asked if I would make her a birthday cake this year, and … [Read more...]

Banana Bread French Toast
Yep, this is the second French Toast post in as many months. But the first one was savory, so it had to be balanced out, right? I may have a problem. On a list of problems to have, I'm ok with this one. The colour issues on this photo, not so ok with them - harsh light aside, can anyone tell me how to shoot berries and not have them black?? Warned the waiter in advance that I may photograph everything [blur complements of an old iPhone]...RJ's worried that this may be my new favourite restaurant. Bistro Moncur - The taste buds are … [Read more...]

Sprinkles!
Coloured-sugar-bits, gotta love that. Tried out two different recipes to make homemade sprinkles - the first of which I saw here, the second being a bit more of a royal icing...The first batch [on the right] I kept very thick, and it was firm enough to set, but ended up settling as little bubble shaped dots ...does anyone out there remember the candy from the 80's that had bright dots on strips of paper, you know, the ones that never quite came off the backing the way they were supposed to … [Read more...]
