It’s once again time for In My Kitchen and as per usual this is a collection of things from the past month — as seen over on Instagram — in loosely interpreted categories and no particular order. As always I’m linking up with Celia for IMK. ------ Kitchen shenanigans I styled a photo simply to rant, this should not surprise you too much. If you want the full story it's here on the original IG post, the important take out points are as follows: a cup of f-off weighs about 7 ounces and oh … [Read more...]
In My Kitchen: May 2014
It's once again time for In My Kitchen and as per usual this is a collection of things from the past month, as seen over on Instagram… Here we go, in loosely interpreted categories and no particular order, and as always I'm linking up with Celia for IMK, The Book Shelf I don't buy too many cookbooks these days (pretty much banned if they aren't gifted or won) but could not pass up this perfect condition used copy of Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day when I stumbled across it during my … [Read more...]
An Apple a Day in Bilpin, NSW
Summers are spent squinting through sparkling sunshine, letting the nectar of soft stonefruit drip and sizzle on the pavement, relishing the rich summer bounty with pies and salsas and unadorned fruit. But well before autumn comes knocking in Sydney, while we are all still savouring days at the beach and endless twilight evenings, there are signs heralding the imminent change in seasons. Slowly and surely the warmth of summer is replaced by the crisp snap of autumn and with it, the crisp snap … [Read more...]
Smoked Salmon Breakfast Pizza
It was morning and I was hungry. Hungry for breakfast but craving pizza. Porridge -- my usual go-to -- just wouldn't suffice, and honestly who am I to deny a pizza craving. The smokey-sweet Whisky Cured Smoked Salmon from my #huonsalmon order was waving at me from the fridge -- sitting just under the Salmon Caviar, next to the dill left over from the salmon reuben adventure, and on the shelf above the all-the-green-things pesto. RJ was at the grocery store already and a quick call … [Read more...]
Blackened Salmon Reuben with Yoghurt Dill Sauce
This is that sandwich, the one you've been waiting for. The one that is as comfortable at a brunch soiree as it is at lunch or dinner. The one that is a little bit rich, a little bit tangy, a little bit crisp, a little bit creamy. The one that guys want to be and girls want to be with. What? I love a good sandwich and this one ticks all the boxes. A sandwich wasn't however the first thing that came to mind when I was offered the opportunity to try out some of the Huon … [Read more...]
Vegan Key Lime Pie (Nut-Free, Paleo & Raw too)
Hello there. In a fit of late-night brain-freeze I'm vignetting this, barely editing, and going to bed. Better buckle up. ------ On tenuous links... I'm hosting Sweet Adventures Blog Hop this month and with the hop starting on 17 March I simply had to make the theme St. Paddy's Day related. However, other than the festive green colour of this pie, any relation to the holiday, country of origin, or leprechauns at the end of rainbows are tenuous at best (and quite possibly … [Read more...]
Taste of Sydney 2014 and IconPark
Taste of Sydney has once again returned to Centennial Park and this past Thursday evening RJ and I had the opportunity to head over and check it out. As per usual there are plenty of restaurants with special menus just for the event, and a whole host of producers talking passionately about everything from wine to pastries to free range meat. However this year I did notice there seem to be a few more chill out lounge-y areas which is a nice way to take a break and laze in the sun -- or the … [Read more...]
