RJ was away for work a week or two ago. He came home with presents, which is always a winner. The first one was a lovely little magnet: And on presentation I asked only half jokingly, 'did you get this at the airport?'. He almost didn't give me the other gift [oops, sorry mate!]. I am a sucker for green tea and have about 15 different kinds on regular rotation. This he found in a little tea shop in Perth that is the only place in Oz to import it. Soursop is a big fruit … [Read more...]
Dinner for one
So everyone has that diner they eat when there is no one else around - no one to feed something from each of the food groups to, or appease with a steak, or impress with something complicated that was 'just a breeze to throw together'. It's that thing that you generally eat standing up at the counter, or wearing an ex's t-shirt in front of the TV, or even curled up in bed with the cat. Some hectic nights we resort to fried eggs on toast and I've been known to have cereal with frozen … [Read more...]
Sunday design
Last weekend I saw these at a market in the city: The company is called Red Dog Design - the rustic look appealed to my love of old things [I am most definitely a stone and wood girl a thousand times before concrete and steel, blame it on growing up in a 100 year old house], and the possibilities to my perpetually itchy travel feet. So my question to you is this, would you have a tower of the places you've been, or the ones you want to go to? And this little place, just a really cute … [Read more...]
Dirty magazines with lunch
Oh where to begin...and none of it is nearly as salacious as the title suggests, sorry! About a week ago I met with the business partner of a guy I used to work for years ago. I started a 4 week contract this past Monday...like riding a bicycle I tell ya. Good to work with this guy again though, and the agency seems to have some really good people. Some smart young'ens and others with a heap of industry miles under their belts - interesting mix and a pretty good vibe interjected by random … [Read more...]
Fire roasted tomato sauce
So I like pasta shaped like stuff other than pasta – no, not THAT kind, get your head out of the gutter! This kind: Pasta shaped like Swedish elk heads – could you resist?? They also tend to look like angels or crabs depending on the angle and current mindset of the observer. Even better they are wholemeal and organic….you’d never guess they are from Ikea…huh? Really, hence the nationality of the elk. But more to the point...they quickly made friends with a bag of organic plum … [Read more...]
Because we can, that’s why
Yesterday we boycotted responsibility. It was Saturday after all, but we even boycotted weekend responsibility. We did not do the grocery shopping or cleaning, or go house-hunting, or exercise, or do any work. We slept late - really late. And then went out for brunch. And then wandered across the city to a festival day type thing. And then sat on the grass and ignored what was playing on stage to talk to each other instead and soak up a gorgeous Sydney autumn day. And then made a nice dinner … [Read more...]
