Happy Bloggiversary to me! 84th & 3rd turned 1 year old last week and to celebrate I turned the computer off, boycotted cooking and went to yoga, I deserved it. A whole year, can you believe it? In honour of this momentous event I made French Toast for brunch this past weekend. Not this French Toast, or this one but a whole new beast - Banana and Almond Butter Stuffed French Toast. And it doesn't stop there... vanilla, orange juice, and oh, right, Bourbon. Because you can't really have a … [Read more...]
The Great Australian Pavlova Blog Hop
Hey you! Yes, you. Stop looking around like there is someone else I could be talking to. You are reading a food blog if you haven't noticed [well mostly food, so close enough] so it was only a matter of time before I asked you to play along... The Great Australian Pavlova Blog Hop Late last week I ended up in a conversation on Twitter with Delicieux, The Hungry Australian, Dining With a Stud, and The Capers of the Kitchen Crusader, about none other than the wondrous Pavlova. Based on the … [Read more...]
Peanut Butter Truffles
Damn you Twitter and Pinterest. All I've seen for days are different interpretations of Peanut Butter and Chocolate - baked together, mashed together, mixed together. I came home from work this evening and could no longer resist - so I made the most literal [and quick] interpretation I could think of. You could use all Peanut Putter - I used half and half, Almond and Peanut Butters because I don't usually eat Peanut Butter but still have some buried in the back of the fridge. You could double … [Read more...]
Eat.Drink.Blog
Eat.Drink.Blog.Eat.Drink.Blog.Eat.Drink.Blog. True, it's what I do for some portion of pretty much every day, but this weekend I had the honour of getting together for a full day of food blog immersion with a group of like minded people from across Australia. People who are more prone to snapping shots of cake before tasting it, who don't mind the entree getting a bit tepid before even thinking about taking a bite, who look for tables with the best light - rather than the most privacy, … [Read more...]
Grandma Takes a Trip
Before we left on our little adventure there was, amongst other things, a small matter of what on earth to wear to Blogher '11. There were parties to attend after all, and I needed sparkly items ... and I'm sure there were a multitude of other reasons I made up at the time to justify why I had to go vintage shopping on the last weekend before we flew out ... 'Grandma Takes a Trip' in Surry Hills was recommended to me by a friend as a place to find something fun. I had been meaning to go there … [Read more...]
Pumpkin Pie Spread
Um, yum, just yum. For as much as I love Cake! I am at least as equally obsessed with Pie! Not the crust bit mind you, in my opinion it really just gets in the way of the business end of pie - the filling. Sweet, savory, creamy, fruity, whatever, I could sit with a pie tin and eat the whole middle bit - one small spoonful at a time. Now I've just shared with you my crusade on pumpkin, so what else to do but get straight to the point on this one. Apple, pumpkin, spices and voila, a spread … [Read more...]
Ode to Pumpkin
Pumpkin rose to fame under the guise of a split personality - playing both the princess and the evil stepmother with aplomb. On one hand, puffed up and polished within an inch of its life as the golden carriage every little girl wanted to get married in. On the other, carved away and lit from the inside to reveal its inner daemons and protect houses from the spirits of All Hallows Eve. But in all its glory it was still just the bridesmaid - second to a glass slipper and piles of candy, … [Read more...]
