So I have a cousin that sends cards for every occasion. Not only remembers, but sends cards – without fail, for holidays, birthdays and even anniversaries. Must be hereditary as her mother is exactly the same. She even sent me an email to apologize for sending Christmas cards late this year, it still arrived before New Years…..I knew there was something I meant to do in December….
I on the other hand am about as good with cards as I am with emails. I think about it, have the best intentions, and some how never actually get around to doing anything about it. The wonder of facebook has meant that I can at least wish people a happy birthday on time [even early due to being nearly a day ahead of pretty much everyone] these days.
It’s not that I don’t remember, but time just gets away somehow. So this year I saw these two cards in January:
They are created by a local company called Candle Bark that has a great range of lovely handmade cards – refreshingly simple and different to most of the corny ones out there!
It was about 2 weeks before Katie’s birthday so I bought both immediately – along with international stamps, took them home and proceeded to look at them on my floor everyday until her birthday….and for the weeks following. I then decide that I needed to include a picture. So off to the kiosk I went to get the pic printed. That has been in the living room for 3 weeks at least.
Anyway – the card is now officially on it’s way, picture included, and should reach NY just in time to be 2 and a bit months late. Hey, at least I didn’t save it till next year. The other one is still here, making me feel guilty, here’s hoping that gets sent out soon too!
