Happy Bloggiversary to me! 84th & 3rd turned 1 year old last week and to celebrate I turned the computer off, boycotted cooking and went to yoga, I deserved it. A whole year, can you believe it? In honour of this momentous event I made French Toast for brunch this past weekend. Not this French Toast, or this one but a whole new beast - Banana and Almond Butter Stuffed French Toast. And it doesn't stop there... vanilla, orange juice, and oh, right, Bourbon. Because you can't really have a … [Read more...]
Peanut Butter Truffles
Damn you Twitter and Pinterest. All I've seen for days are different interpretations of Peanut Butter and Chocolate - baked together, mashed together, mixed together. I came home from work this evening and could no longer resist - so I made the most literal [and quick] interpretation I could think of. You could use all Peanut Putter - I used half and half, Almond and Peanut Butters because I don't usually eat Peanut Butter but still have some buried in the back of the fridge. You could double … [Read more...]
Pumpkin Pie Spread
Um, yum, just yum. For as much as I love Cake! I am at least as equally obsessed with Pie! Not the crust bit mind you, in my opinion it really just gets in the way of the business end of pie - the filling. Sweet, savory, creamy, fruity, whatever, I could sit with a pie tin and eat the whole middle bit - one small spoonful at a time. Now I've just shared with you my crusade on pumpkin, so what else to do but get straight to the point on this one. Apple, pumpkin, spices and voila, a spread … [Read more...]
Ode to Pumpkin
Pumpkin rose to fame under the guise of a split personality - playing both the princess and the evil stepmother with aplomb. On one hand, puffed up and polished within an inch of its life as the golden carriage every little girl wanted to get married in. On the other, carved away and lit from the inside to reveal its inner daemons and protect houses from the spirits of All Hallows Eve. But in all its glory it was still just the bridesmaid - second to a glass slipper and piles of candy, … [Read more...]
Crave Sydney
Crave is a month long food festival in Sydney with literally hundred of events and participating restaurants and, well, food. This year we haven't taken nearly enough advantage of it - although I did do a fair amount of drooling over the Tweets and pictures of other food bloggers at the launch parties and the World Chef Showcase. We did however manage to make it to the Sydney Growers Market in Pyrmont one morning, and stop into Bitton on a Saturday afternoon for brunch to enjoy ... a … [Read more...]
Mango Salsa
Sydney is still not convinced that summer needs to hurry up and get here. She teases us with a day or two of glorious sunny heat, instigating the removal of blankets from the bed and the pulling out of sandals from the back of the closet, only to bring down another week of grey, cold drizzle that once again call for tights, boots and a jumper - no wonder the meteorologists are striking. But the mangoes tell a different story, they whisper promises of days at the beach and x-mas holidays and … [Read more...]
Quinoa Tortillas
You know when you try something out expecting one result and what you get is so much better? Yeah, these are that. I noticed recently that Bob's Red Mill has started ranging in Australia - I was excited to say the least. FYI - they have nothing to do with this post, I just really like their stuff ... that said, if they sent me a hamper, I wouldn't say no, what I would do is giggle like a kid at Christmas. I get excited about baking supplies, it doesn't take much. Anyway, while I already have my … [Read more...]
