It’s once again time for In My Kitchen and as per usual this is a collection of things from the past month — as seen over on Instagram — in loosely interpreted categories and no particular order. As always I’m linking up with Celia for IMK.

Kitchen Shenanigans
It has been a bit of a slow month (at least compared to the usual influx of stuff that seems to pass through) but there has certainly been pumpkin, lots and lots of roasted pumpkin.
Mainly for pie, and then mini-pies, and then leftovers mixed into pretty much everything else including breakfast.
Oh, and baked pumpkin doughnuts for a crafternoon date. Because I never go anywhere without cake.
——
A thoughtful secret santa gift from the lunch I took those pies to. The tea towel (or the back side of it at least) has already made it into a photo setup because props gotta earn their keep.
——
A lovely hamper* of summer fruit and veg landed at my door thanks to Sydney Markets. One salad has already made it to the blog, another is on the way soon. It reminded me that I need to be better about stocking the fridge with fresh veggies.
——
I do love brown paper packages tied up with string… especially when they contain Aussie Macadamias*. One of my perpetual faves and currently making their way into pretty much everything I’m cooking.

Food Finds
I recently met the vibrant Sal of The Fit Foodie and she was kind enough to send me on my way with a pouch of her newly launched Protein Ball Fit Mixes.
Only three ingredients take them from powder to ball — no blender required. Plus there is no fructose, gluten, dairy, soy or chemicals — and they taste brilliant.
——
A gorgeous taste* of a couple FarmhouseDirect, direct from the producer, products including Pretsel Vineyard Pickled Walnuts (whole walnuts in the shell, pickled — crazy good, perfect with a cheese platter) and amazingly fragrant Lisadurne Hill Olive Oil. Find out more about Farmhouse Direct in my Socially Conscious Gift Guide.
——
They look like spoons, but these decorative pieces* from Good Spender are so much more. Made from recycled bombshells in Laos, each one supports a local artisan and helps fund landmine removal. More about these and other gifts for good in my Socially Conscious Gift Guide.
——
Loving the curated selection* offered by new online store My Omeio. It’s like browsing market stalls of some of the best small producers in Sydney — but delivered. The Miellerie honey is off the hook. More from them in an upcoming Gift Guide.

I’m thinking cookies… (Who am I kidding, I’m always thinking cookies, but I’m certainly open to other recommendations!)

Bought some quinoa flour from Keenwah at Bondi markets this weekend…
I discovered recently while trying to make my Quinoa Tortillas that a coarse grind really doesn’t work well with the recipe so I was pleased to discover that Keenwah’s flour is ground fine and the tortillas came out brilliantly.
Also, not only is it less expensive than even bulk places but it doesn’t have that slightly bitter taste of many quinoa flours. Thumbs up all around — if you are in Sydney I highly recommend tracking some down.

Not my Kitchen
A quick behind the scenes from my recent mushroom post. Because why would one shoot inside when outside is twice as hard. Welcome to my crazy.
——
Fresh haloumi, this changes everything.
I recently spent an afternoon with a lovely group of women and we were treated to fresh haloumi and goat cheese by Arlo of Omnom Cheese Making.
This is what cheese should take like all the time. Dreamy

That’s all folks

So… if you find your kitchen completely empty, you know you’ve been robbed! Everything is so darn cute! Even down to that leafy green branch so casually strewn over that MOJITO towel. LOVE.
PS- I’ve heard so much about Aussie macadamias. I hope to try one day soon. Like in person 😉
Happy Holidays JJ!
