Humm, a bit screwy with the timeliness but I’m going to flash back on the past few weeks. Mom came to visit Sydney for the first time in 6 ½ years – fair enough, for most of that we were either living in NYC or making the trip to America-land about every 6 months… It was great to have her here and, as I’d imagine is the case for most people, I really don’t get the chance to play tourist in my own city until company comes [and honesty, we are really bloody far from anything so not many people make it all the way over very often!].
We made the most of pretty good weather and managed to get as much relaxation in as we did activity. She did keep calling it a health-camp but we didn’t work her THAT hard, and we even let her put sugar on her oatmeal and have coffee for the mornings.
We did the requisite tour of Sydney with some sightseeing, some eating and lots and lots of walking…
Lookin’ pretty good for having just traveled for 20 hours!
First stop on they day of arrival was a Year 3 running race – not a bad location for it, huh?
A birthday dinner… with cake! [Choc Mud base, Choc Mousse centre, crunchy malt nuggets, vanilla (or was it malt?) ice cream and caramel sauce – far out – entrees and mains were just as good, love Cafe Sydney, yep this was our 10% being bad…]
A day in the park…
…with a bit of ‘sporting activity’, and a lot of ‘looking busy’…
some treats…
and some sweets…
A coast trail with the most amazing graveyard overlooking the ocean – not a bad place to spend eternity…
Lots of walks around the neighbourhood with the local flora and fauna – yes, that spider is as big as it looks.
A very posh afternoon tea at the gorgeous QVB
A wander through St Mary’s Cathedral and a tour inside the Opera House – those big white ‘sails’…thousands of little tiles…OCD anyone?
And topped it all off with a great night skyline. Miss you already – come back soon!
Other bits and pieces in Days 23-30 if you’re still dying for more…

Miss you!! Mom
