So everyone has that diner they eat when there is no one else around - no one to feed something from each of the food groups to, or appease with a steak, or impress with something complicated that was 'just a breeze to throw together'. It's that thing that you generally eat standing up at the counter, or wearing an ex's t-shirt in front of the TV, or even curled up in bed with the cat. Some hectic nights we resort to fried eggs on toast and I've been known to have cereal with frozen … [Read more...]
Sunday design
Last weekend I saw these at a market in the city: The company is called Red Dog Design - the rustic look appealed to my love of old things [I am most definitely a stone and wood girl a thousand times before concrete and steel, blame it on growing up in a 100 year old house], and the possibilities to my perpetually itchy travel feet. So my question to you is this, would you have a tower of the places you've been, or the ones you want to go to? And this little place, just a really cute … [Read more...]
Ahh-ha moment(s)
1 - Thanks to a post on The Pioneer Woman's Photography section I have discovered the 'vivid' setting on my Nikon. Can I get a hallelujah. Amazing. Have been incredibly frustrated by the slightly dull appearance of my photos in pretty much any light and the need to adjust them [or not and just deal with it because I can't be bothered....]. The difference is remarkable. It does make carrots glow even more but for the sake of everything else, I can deal with that one! 2 - I have just figured … [Read more...]
Make good?
So I have a cousin that sends cards for every occasion. Not only remembers, but sends cards – without fail, for holidays, birthdays and even anniversaries. She even sent me an email to apologize for sending Christmas cards late this year, it still arrived before New Years…..I knew there was something I meant to do in December…. I on the other hand am about as good with cards as I am with emails. I think about it, have the best … [Read more...]

From Japan to California and everything in between, I can only hope that it doesn't get worse and that recovery is as swift as possible. Be well. … [Read more...]
Arm-holes, A-R-M
Most trends come and go pretty quickly and I don’t tend to comment too much... [although the 80’s resurgence is overstaying it’s welcome a bit, and really, if you are old enough to have worn the stuff the first time around, tread lightly on this go.] So I snickered quietly at Jeggings last winter [you know, the leggings PRINTED with pockets, seams and a zip flap to look like jeans], rolled my eyes silently at the black canvas sneakers with black socks and dresses last summer, and just shook … [Read more...]
What else was cooking at Christmas…
January is a big month for lots of friends [apparently April was too…yep, a bit wicked, but funny in that shouldn’t laugh but can’t help letting out a chuckle kind of way]. So far we have had friends in Pennsylvania give birth to a baby girl, found out that an old friend just adopted a baby boy in Florida, have friends in NY and Sydney and Germany due to pop any day [with a boy and two girls respectively]… and the bub cooking at Christmas, the only one that was still a surprise on what it would … [Read more...]
