Bread
When a box with Pyrex shows up at my door who am I to argue? Although a wonderful surprise and fully supportive of my kitchenware addiction, I didn’t really have any plans for the loaf pan. However most of my metal loaf pans are in really poor shape. Whatever gets baked in them sticks and the obviously-not-non-stick coating is flaking off [yes, I know, this is a bad thing, I have new ones coming soon!]
So when I decided to make my Best Wholewheat Bread recently I, on a whim, grabbed the Pyrex to use for the loaf. I didn’t have any expectations but figured that anything would be better than the metal ones.
I was so pleasantly surprised. Not only did it bake perfectly but it dropped out with no encouragement whatsoever. I did spray the dish lightly with oil and rolled the dough in some oats before putting it in for the final rise but that was it. I love kitchen successes. The Pyrex was sent to me by World Kitchen, this is not a sponsored mention I was just really happy with the pan.

Berries
The new theme for the Sweet Adventures Blog Hop was announced last week.
To brighten up winter or make the most of the bumper crops of summer fruits – South and North Hemispheres respectively – our SABH theme for August is ‘Berry nice to meet you‘! Christina from The Hungry Australian is our hostess and the hop opens for link ups on Monday 20 August.
Now to work out what I’m going to make!

Books
I was lucky enough to meet the queen of gluten free baking back at the Good Food & Wine Show in Sydney. Since then out paths keep crossing and I am now the proud owner of her divine cookbook.
This lovely read is full of gluten-free recipes that most people can make in their own kitchens – no odd ingredients, just honest and indulgent food. Better yet there is a robust savory section – a girl cannot live on dessert alone – although it’s fun to try.
Keep an eye out for a giveaway of this little gem in the next few months!
I won a copy of this gorgeous book on Twitter from @thesydneymag. It is the first cookbook from Shane Delia, owner of Maha Bar and Grill in Melbourne, and you can almost smell the spices wafting off the pages.
Full of both sweet and savory dishes inspired by the author’s Australian–Maltese heritage and a fusion of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavours, it is truly drool-worthy.

This is the second positive review I’ve seen of that pyrex pan. I might just have to get one of those!

That’s great that the loaf slips out so easily! 😮
