Christmas this year was at the house of one of RJ’s sisters, the table set with handmade snowman place-cards and a festive centrepiece of Christmas Bush and Magnolia Blossoms. Even Mother Nature appeared to be in a celebratory mood and a beautiful day allowed the adults to sit on the back deck basking in the sun, while the nieces and nephews ran around like banshees and spent more time in the tree-house than on the ground.
In true Aussie style the turkey was cooked on the BBQ, prawns made an appearance as a starter and the meal was finished with a gorgeous Christmas Pudding. I have to mention as well how much I enjoyed being able to photograph in a kitchen with incredible natural light, sigh!
Christmas last year was spent with friends who were ‘stranded’ in Sydney due to an impending arrival. They supplied the roasted meats and we brought all the other fixings for a Christmas feast.
This year, Christmas Cookies were all that was requested and I pitched in to help out with assembly [and maybe a bit of staging – ha!].
The [slightly vague] menu: Rockmelon wrapped with Prosciutto; Prawn cups with Lime Aioli or Avocado; Virgin Sparkling Cosmos; BBQ Roast Turkey; Ham; Smoked Salmon; BBQ Flathead – all mine; Cous-cous Salad with Sultanas and something green – see, vague; Roast Carrots; Green-beans and Asparagus; Potato Bake; Cabernet Cranberry Sauce.
Dessert: Gingerbread Cookies; Orange Amaranth Cutout Cookies; Just.One.More Choc Chip Cookies; Christmas Pudding with Ice Cream and Custard.

There were, of course, the requisite presents – ripped open with wild abandon…
and that tree-house I mentioned before – amazing isn’t it?!
And with that, I hope you had a festive and peaceful holiday season and send you best wishes for a very Happy New Year. See you in 2012!
