After a day of lovely text messages and phone calls, rousing [making up in volume what it was lacking slightly in tune] renditions of the song of the day and a surprise cake at work, I finished off my birthday with a very thoughtful gift and a wonderful dinner compliments of my gorgeous husband…..
Warned the waiter in advance that I may photograph everything [blur complements of an old iPhone]…RJ’s worried that this may be my new favourite restaurant.
Bistro Moncur – The taste buds are singing praises, the bank account is having a bit of a tanty
Blue swimmer crab and sweet corn omelette, cooked in at least 5 sticks of butter | Baby beetroot salad with goat cheese fritters, bitter greens and toasted walnuts
Persian fetta, carrot and mint tortellis [little pasta things] in a green pea veloute with beans, baby carrots [oh, that’s what the yellow and purple things were, so very ‘now’], beans, oyster mushrooms and tomatoes | Crispy skin salmon with shaved squid, crab consomme, shitake mushrooms, brocollini and kipfler potatoes
Chocolate sponge with chocolate mousse and vanilla ice cream – aka CAKE!
